.E.S. Foundation
The Buffalo Public School System asked the S.E.N.S.E.S. Foundation to partner with them and 21st Century Community Learning Center to bring our innovative program to Math Science and Technology Preparatory School at Seneca (MST). Our program is uniquely designed to integrate Science, Technology, Engineering and Math into our the students lives. Our intervention will increase the number of students who are meeting proficiency on high school level assessments in both science and mathematics, through introducing them to interactive STEM workshops, externship opportunities, and S.E.N.S.E.S. enrichment activities.
Our management team, under the leadership of Curlane Jones-Brown M.D., consists of a uniquely qualified group of allied health professionals, internists, pediatricians, educators, counselors, board members and community members. This team is committed to improve our students academic performance, classroom conduct and ultimately increase their opportunities for a successful life.
We realize that over half of the students fall below state academic performance standards and research shows 84% of the students live below the poverty level and come from low income areas of the City of Buffalo. This places them at risk for academic failure, chronic absenteeism, teen pregnancy, teen violence and low pupil expenditures. While implementing our program, we have been able to observe these pitfalls. The S.E.N.S.E.S. Foundation understands the needs of our community and is using every resource possible to bridge the gaps in order to produce successful members of future generations.
